cars I Have known: UeM 445V Ford Cortina 1600

I only remember this car very briefly as we didn't have it very long. It was a stop-gap while we waited for our new Vauxhall. It was an old managers car that had been replaced, but it was drafted back into use to keep my Dad on the road. It was nearly 3 years old when we had it, but my Dad didn't mind. He still rates it as one of the best cars he ever had.

With a 1600cc engine and a built in cassette player / radio, it was a bit of a change from the Morris Marina that it replaced - luxury by comparison, but it didn't have headrests though, or a passenger wing mirror, or hubcaps...

The Picture below shows my brother and I at 'The Tin Hut.' It was a little crofters cottage we rented up in Scotland near Fort William. It was very basic to say the least, but we loved it. The heating and cooking was supplied by an old cast iron range fuelled by driftwood we collected at the side of the Loch in the morning. It was brilliant.
